Rangers Rumors: Texas aggressively trying to trade Alex Rios, Neal Cotts

By on 11:06 AM

Alex Rios and Neal Cotts are two of the more interesting Texas Rangers' interesting players here at the trade deadline, as both are drawing some interest. The Rangers currently have the worst winning percentage in baseball and they are looking to sell at the trade deadline. Both Rios and Cotts could be on the move today.

The Rangers are aggressively trying to deal both the outfielder Rios and left-handed reliever Cotts, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

The Seattle Mariners, San Francisco Giants, and perhaps the Kansas City Royals are in on Alex Rios, as they all have reportedly shown interest in him. The Atlanta Braves are interested in Cotts, as I recently wrote for Sports Rumor Alert. The Detroit Tigers, as they are looking for handed relievers could be involved in a potential Cotts deal as well.

On the season, in 421 plate appearances, Rios is hitting a triple-slash line of .304/.335/.430 with four home runs and 43 runs batted in. He left yesterday's game for precautionary reasons after being hit by a pitch. He is a free agent after this season, making the Rangers more willing to move him. Cotts, however, is 2-5 with a 3.45 ERA, 3.00 FIP, and a 51 to 18 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 47 innings.
