NFL Rumors: Ed Reed 'still preparing to play'

By on 7:40 AM

Former Ravens safety Ed Reed still has plans to play in the upcoming NFL season.

According to Ravens insider Aaron Wilson, Reed will is still "preparing to play" but also admits to  "taking my time" with the whole process.

Reed, the nine-time Pro Bowler, has not played in a game since the Ravens Super Bowl win in 2013.

Last year, Reed signed a three-year, $15 million contract with the Houston Texans before being released after only seven games. Reed finished the season on the New York Jets roster.

"Yes, definitely preparing to play," Reed said Sunday. "I'm not in any rush at all. I learned a lot about the process last year and I know my worth. I'm taking my time getting myself all the way back to where I want to be. I'll come back down to it somewhere in season. I'll probably wind up somewhere, or not."

Even if Reed is not signed this offseason, don't expect any type of formal retirement.
