Canadiens Report: Pacioretty's scoring prowess remains under the radar

By on 11:08 AM

Max Pacioretty of the Montreal Canadiens has very quietly established himself as one of the National Hockey League's top scorers without any of the media scrutiny that plagues the others who score at the same level.

Ryan Dadoun on prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com points out that Pacioretty has scored 38 goals this season, ranking him fourth in the league this season with eleven of those goals being game winners. That makes Pacioretty one of the most prolific goal scorers in the league.

Over the last two seasons Pacioretty has scored 86 goals which sits him in fifth place behind only Corey Perry, Phil Kessel, Steven Stamkos, and Alex Ovechkin. Pacioretty has been able to accomplish this without the media spotlight which has been shining primarily on teammate P.K. Subban.

Pacioretty's contract carries a cap hit of $4.5mil through the 2018-19 campaign, making him one of the most economical goal scorers in the National Hockey League. While Pacioretty may not be a household name outside of Montreal, the other teams in the NHL are fully aware of who he is and what he means to the Canadiens.
